New “EC-PVC” Non Phthalate Vinyl Compounds Developed by Sylvin
Denver, PA January 24, 2011 - In response to growing demand for non phthalate flexible vinyl compounds, Sylvin Technologies has developed a diverse selection of Environmentally Conscious (EC-PVC) materials. This product development opportunity surfaced in response to industry’s interest in using more environmentally friendly or more “green” products. While phthalate alternative plasticizers have been available for many years, they have been significantly more expensive than compounds based on economical phthalate plasticizers such as DEHP/DOP or DINP. Sylvin’s new non phthalate compounds now are available at similar prices as those offered with traditional phthalate based compounds, like DOP/DEHP and DINP.
Appealing to environmental compliance demands, the EC-PVC materials are formulated to meet critical regulatory criteria including Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which regulates plasticizer use in toys. All of the EC-PVC compounds are also RoHS, REACH, and California Prop 65 compliant and they are acceptable for use in FDA applications.
Sylvin has commercialized a variety of compounds targeting applications such as toys, medical tubing, refrigeration gaskets and food processing equipment. Compounds can be made from 50 to 95 Shore A durometer and can be clear or custom colored.
